Back home

WHAT? Yep, we’re almost home. Left the nice sunny weather in Gibraltar last Wednesday morning. We had a pretty quick ride with some ups and the usual downs. It’s pretty amazing, we have 4 different Navigition systems with us and none of them is able to show you the most normal route you should follow, easy driving from A to B without any hassle seems not possible. I’ll get back to that.

WHY? Well, certainly not for the weather. Although may be precisely because of the weather. I wasn’t quite sure about the weather predictions. And i wasn’t quite sure about the status of our 1wheelfloatinglady. We had the flodings, error in electricity and what if the temperatures were to drop even lower than indicated? I just had to go back to check it myself. Better save then sorry.

AND NOW? You might have seen our last duelfie. First we’re enjoying the European speed skating Championships in Thialf in Heerenveen. Than we take a quick look home on Vlieland, waiting for the last weather forecasts and then we’ll decide what’s next. Sweden? Austria?

long story, short version

We left the south of Spain. We left the north of Spain. We left the south of France. We’re in the north of France. Tomorrow we’re leaving the north of France into the south of Belgium. Then through the north of Belgium into the South of Netherland and up to the north. That’s quite simple innit?

Time for new plans. Stay tuned 😉

the dude

Today we went up The Rock ‘Gibraltar’ with the cable car and walked back and forth and up en down to see as much as we could. I have to admit it’s cool. We had beautiful sunny weather and the views from the top were really stunning. The history, caves, tunnels and monkeys are also worth it. No doubt about that.

But for me was this moment absolutely the highlight of the day. I took a serie of pictures of this monkey and every time i pressed the shutter he started scratching his balls. The dude didn’t move a muscle in his face. My Gibraltar Hero!

My intentions ARE GOOD

Like every year I made a long list of good intentions to start 2024 that I wanted to share with you. This time the list became so long I even had to put it in alphabetical order, which kept me busy all evening last night. A few minutes after midnight I realized it would be better to change it into a certain degree of importance. But then, just a few seconds before I was going to publish this piece of art, my vision became slightly blurred. Somehow i pressed the wrong key combination and lost the complete document. It must be the tea became too much for me.

But not all was lost, i luckily still remembered a few of them.

  • Get ready for a new sexy beach season, don’t let my weight fall under 100kg.
  • Build up my fitness by not overtraining my usual level.
  • Work more, increasing it to 20 minutes a day a week.
  • Be nicer to my lovely wife, even when she’s around.
  • Never make a promise if you can’t keep it.

VIA verde de la sierra

Via Verdes are old railway lines that have been turned into bicycle and walking paths. We did this ‘de la Sierra’ one on our bike this afternoon. The first 36,5 km were mostly downhill, so guess how the way back was like. But it was definitely nice and also kind of weird to bike through some tunnels.

The fun part of this route is that everything was ready built, including stations. But the rails were never laid and no train has ever passed.
