I do my best to categorize all the different posts. In fact it is quite simple as long as I avoid the human error factor.
Here you will find the posts I uploaded while we were back sailing with our 1wheelfloatinglady, a ’77 Nautor 43 Swan, one of the 21 motorsailing vessels Nautor Swan build. Yes, we also tried a motorboat, Aegir an 50feet Vripack.

It’s not ‘stormy’ Mrs.Turner was singing about, was it? We had a wee bit of a breeze, hitting the 45 knots in gales last night. Sideways that’s always a unpleasant ride. Even in the marina. So you can probably guess how it was outside the harbour. The only advantage of this shitty weather is that you can do lot’s of useful things inside.
Is it strange to have a vase with beautiful tulips on your table on board? Probably that’s a yes if you’re on the move. But we are still busy getting our beloved lady ready for the upcoming season and I think it’s ok if you are docked.
It’s way to much to mention everything we did and replaced the last week. So besides a million little jobs we also had our Webasto-heater renewed. The old one was in overtime in the amount of burning hours and we didn’t want to take any risk this season. We brought our life raft to a station for an inspection and hopefully a new certificate. At the same time we bought a new set offshore emergency fireworks as ours were outdated last year. I tested the Easymob- ais/dsc beacons we have in our jackets and decided to buy an Oceansignal Epirb also. Just to be as safe as possible in case of an emergency.
When the spring arrives I’ll send to you Tulips from Amsterdam When the spring arrives, I’ll pick for you Tulips from Amsterdam When I do return I’ll bring for you Tulips from Amsterdam Thousand tulips, red and yellow Wish you all the best my dearest What I can not say in words Say the tulips from Amsterdam
There’s only one way to learn this language a bit. Just don’t think of everything you thought you knew about pronouncing words. Why don’t they just use the right letters in the right place in a word? And if you don’t speak out all the letters and words in a sentence, why do you need them? Well i’m getting there slowly, but I’m afraid it’s going to take ages to understand them correctly. Vi ses!
Well, not all day and certainly not every day, but it’s not the worst thing that can happen to us. We bravely get through it thanks to our Dickinson diesel heater. Did someone said coffee?
I’m know, the titles are getting worse. But who cares, nobody is reading it anyway. In between all the serious things I’m slowly getting better in this ‘old-fashioned’ craftsmanship. Do you the name of this knot?
Still lots of work to do before we set course to Denmark or may be Norway or Sweden, but we’re getting there … some day. Last year we had the little fueltank cleaned (we’re not using the big one anymore), changed all the filters twice, flushed the engine with some special stuff to make things run even better. Changed the oil again after that. We changed the complete network of diesel hoses in the engine room, completed them with extra taps to be sure we can shut it all seperately off, including the Webasto and Dickinson heater. The two extra vent/bleed valves are great to get air out of the system if necessary. The engine strings are still ok. We’ve got everything in reserve. Tomorrow i’m going to replace the Separfilters again to be sure everything is still clean. The tank is full. Our Perkins (1977 – 4cil – 75HP) is running perfect and smoother than ever before. With only 7800 working hours the engine will probably keep running for at least another 47 years. Look at this beauty 🙂
Yesterday my marina-neighbour John and I went to a refresher course for using radar in foggy conditions. And how to behave correctly by the rules under these circumstances. It was certainly worth it but the best thing of the day was the coffee they served. Beukenhorst coffee, tastes the best if you pronounce it with the right accent 😉
